How did it come about and what’s it all about?
Well, it all started back in 2005, there was an opportunity to attend a car run “Super Cars on Tour” there was about 100 cars split into 3 groups, the run was from Hyde Park across France ending up in Monte Carlo for a Gala dinner, all in all it was a good trip although some gaping flaws in the administration appeared during the run, maybe more on this later!
To jump forward we also attended the run in 2006, then a competitor set up another run which we attended, that company then went bust, So Tristan who we had met and become friends with on the original run decided to set up his own run just for his mates.
The journey from the UK to the roads we want to be on in Europe is a painful one which takes up too much time, as this time would be better used driving, we started getting the cars transported to Austria or Bratislava, we then fly out and meet the cars there, then spend 7 days driving a pre planned route which has been meticulously planned by Tris, each night where possible we are in 5 star Spa hotels (every night a different location), normally 200-300 miles from the previous. We have stayed in a large proportion of the most stunning 5 star hotels across Europe. The countries we have covered… Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France (Never again!), Slovakia, Hungry, Bosnia (only briefly) and we have now moved to Greece, the first time in Greece we traveled through Italy and got the ferry from Bari, but once we had experienced driving in the Greek mountains there was no going back!
Tris did His first planned car run in 2007, then another in 2008. Then in 2011 started again and has done one a year since then with the exception of 2020 due to COVID.
So who attends… great friends, that’s who! it’s a handpicked bunch of like-minded souls who despite our immense differences, get on as if we were all family, an extraordinary friendship/bond has developed between all of us.
Tristan – Team leader, Tris has organised this from the start with meticulous route planning and Hotel selection which would please Royalty!
Nick – Wanker! Not him his favourite expression! Probably the most colourful character of the bunch.
